Open space in housing developments
Planning guidelines in Malaysia generally require developments larger than one acre to set aside at least 10% of the site as open space. Sabah's housing landscape guideline, for example, also asks for one tree for every 100 m² of that open space.
Factories and industrial lots
Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) industrial guidelines set building setbacks of 9.14 m (30 ft) at the front and 6.096 m (20 ft) at the sides and rear, and refer landscaped green areas to the national open space guideline. Data centres must provide perimeter tree planting for screening.
What this means for you
- Plan the green area and tree positions before you submit drawings
- Choose trees that will not damage drains, walls or paving as they grow
- Keep the landscape maintained so it still meets the approved plan at inspection
We plan, plant and maintain landscapes for factories, warehouses and developments in Johor, and can work with your architect or consultant on the landscape plan.
